About the Role
Open competitive recruitment for the City of Burbank. Under limited direction, this management position prepares, schedules, and arranges for the purchase, sale, transmission, and/or transfer of energy (electricity and natural gas) used in the operation of the City-owned utility.
What You'll Do
- Buy and sell energy, scheduling and nominating transactions with other suppliers
- Forecast near-term energy needs and market prices based on weather data and historical statistics
- Arrange and execute short-term contracts for the purchase, sale, or transfer of energy
- Direct dispatching personnel on energy contracts and scheduling
- Verify energy billings and approve them for payment
- Prepare reports and submissions to regulatory agencies
- Assist in resource planning, project development, and contract negotiations
Requirements
- Knowledge of financial instruments and commodity markets
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local utility regulations
- High school diploma/GED + 3 years of power system dispatch or utility experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, finance, or economics + 2 years of utility experience
