Opto-Mechanical Engineer, Amazon Leo for Government

About the role

Opto-Mechanical Engineer on Amazon Leo for Government (ALG), designing and analyzing space and ground optical systems for custom satellite and government applications.

What you'll do

• Perform opto-mechanical design and trade studies for satellite optical communication payloads and ground-based optical equipment
• Execute design validation testing including thermal-vacuum, shock, and random vibration testing
• Conduct or support structural, thermal, and optical (STOP) analysis via finite element methods
• Facilitate cost trades on multiple parallel configurations
• Generate detailed designs via CAD with GD&T
• Deliver documentation, reports, and presentations for technical design reviews
• Interact directly with customers to translate requirements into technically robust solutions

Requirements

• BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent
• 4+ years in mechanical engineering
• 2+ years as an opto-mechanical engineer
• Understanding of STOP analysis
• TS/SCI clearance required (US Citizen)

Nice to have

• Master's in mechanical engineering
• 6+ years opto-mechanical design experience
• Experience with space-based optical systems

Pay & benefits
