About the role
This is an unclassified, non-civil service, hourly position with no medical, dental or accrued leave benefits (except as required by the Healthy Workplace Healthy Family Act). Under close and general supervision, this entry-level classification participates in youth employment activities aimed at developing leadership knowledge, skills and abilities.
What you'll do
- Ensures Department services are provided with exceptional customer service and the highest ethical standards.
- Performs hillside brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, debris clearance and other general labor tasks on private and public property.
- May also perform general office work.
- Uses power and hand tools; hauls and dumps debris; maintains tools and equipment.
- Works weekday, evening and weekend hours.
Requirements
- No specific experience requirement.
- Graduation from high school, GED or CHSPE certificate, or currently enrolled in High School.
- If over 18: valid Class C California driver's license. If under 18: must secure a valid work permit.
- Ability to comprehend, read, and write directions in English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and holidays.

Pay & benefits
Hourly rate: $17.30–$19.25/hr.
